Shame to see historical structures destroyed
The Dublin General Store was opened in 1845 by John D. Robertson and was the stage stop for stage coaches traveling from Washington to Oskaloosa. The building was restored in 1967 but has since deteriorated and is scheduled for demolition in the near future.
Historically, this was one of the last stage coach stops that has survived in Iowa. The one other remaining stop in Washington County is the Alexander Young Log House (1846) which was moved to Sunset Park in 1912.
It is a shame to see historical structures that directly or indirectly contribute to the development of the state of Iowa be destroyed.
