Thank you for story on Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church
To the editor:

I want to thank the Southeast Iowa Union and especially Gretchen Teske for the informative and inspiring news article on the Clear Creek Heritage Association and the work they have done with the former Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church to see that the building did not meet the fate of the wrecking ball.
Furthermore, it was so intriguing to read about the physical labor its members have contributed and the time other members have spent to secure donations and grants to restore and enhance the edifice.
I am a member of the Mt. Pleasant Chorale and have been very privileged as a member of the chorale to sing at this church. The acoustics are impressive, if not impeccable. Sadly, the art of designing churches and buildings with acoustics like this church is not a prerogative, as I have sung and heard music in other buildings and churches that, I would say, sound like one is singing at 'Big Bill's House of Discount Carpet.” From a visual standpoint, the woodwork and stained glass makes an eloquent statement.
News like this would be lost if it were not for newspapers such as The Union and reporters like Gretchen to research and report such interesting information. I thank you again so very much for keeping history alive with quality reporting.
