Entering a new Golden Age under Trump
To the editor:
Just a reminder – During President Biden’s term, Russia invaded Ukraine; $80-plus billions in military equipment was left in Afghanistan for the Taliban and every good thing our military shed blood for was wasted; Hamas attacked peaceful Israeli civilians; Iran continued to fund terrorists around the world; likely 20 million immigrants were illegally let into the country, some through programs that violated existing immigration laws; inflation grew to record levels; the justice system was turned against We The People; over 60 Antifa and BLM riots burned and destroyed businesses in many cities, causing billions of dollars in damage and resulted in over 20 deaths; and the mental deficits of the President were covered up to the detriment of our National Security.
President Trump was elected on the core features of the One Big Beautiful Bill – chiefly continuing the income tax cuts, securing the border, ending abuses of the intelligence and justice systems, and using the Dept. of Government Efficiency to find ways to reduce spending. The remainder of his programs - fighting waste, fraud and abuse and cutting spending highlighted by DOGE, must come from Republicans in Congress doing the job they were elected to do. That job is secure our border, deport illegal immigrants, stop federal regulation overreach, get the Deep State out of the DOJ, the FBI and the Intel Community, hold government officials accountable for their actions, and get spending under control. Democrats won’t vote for any of it. Democrats and the leftist media all shout that people will die and the economy will be wrecked, and the Constitution will be destroyed.
About 170 days into his second term, all those claims are proven false. The Supreme Court have largely upheld the power exercised by the President, and nationwide injunctions are being curtailed. Corruption at the CIA, FBI, and DOJ is finally being investigated, and hopefully we will see accountability for the actions of the Deep State. Inflation is curbed. The border is sealed and those that entered the US illegally are being stripped of taxpayer funded benefits and are being deported. President Trump is once again proving that peace through strength works. Some sanity is returning to social issues like gender identity, and meritocracy prevails over diversity and equity ideology.
I do believe that we are entering a new Golden Age. I love America and the ideals enshrined in our Founding Documents – the Declaration of Independence, the Preamble to the Constitution, and the Constitution itself. By the Grace of God, the ideals and goals spelled out there nearly 250 years ago have enabled us to become the most successful and powerful nation the world has ever known, and we have used our power in the modern age to further the prospects of freedom and fight tyranny around the world.
I hope those speaking so harshly of President Trump will start to look at the actual results of his policies, and stop making unsubstantiated claims and wild predictions, and return to supporting our country and our citizen neighbors.

Trump wrong to cut PBS
To the editor:
Because we raised our children with PBS (Public Broadcasting) television they are kind, civil, courteous, educated and successful citizens.
Viewing programs as Sesame Street and Mister Rogers teaches dignity, human values and civility. PBS is free to all children.
In another blatant act of meanness, Donald Trump and his Republican minions are at this time moving to defund PBS. It is all part of the endless "waste, fraud and abuse" gibberish that has conned so many.
This, while more and more tax cuts go to billionaires.
It is likely Mr. Trump rarely viewed PBS programs or he would be better mannered.
When it comes to manners and wisdom, we'd be wise to stick with Kermit the Frog.
