Washington’s Nativity display is fantastic
Dear Editor:
2022 was the 800th Anniversary of the first Nativity scene. If you have any interest at all in Nativity sets, you must go to Washington, Iowa, to the Hills Bank, 2481 Highway 92, on the east edge of Washington.
There is a display of 2,539 Nativity sets that is just incredible! Beginning in the entryway of the bank and continuing throughout the entire facility, the number and variety of sets will truly take your breath away! There are Nativities from over 100 countries!
It took 15 pick-up loads to transport the sets to the bank and 6 weeks to set up the display. It is possible this is the last time the entire collection will be displayed due to the amount of work required.
The sets will be on display through January. Hours of the bank are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. They are also open Saturdays from 9 to noon. The collector, Mike, is available for tours of groups of any size by calling 319-653-6250.
Plan to spend several hours as you view this incredible display! For a town the size of Washington, this is just amazing! And so close to Fairfield. Please don’t miss this opportunity. And a big thank you to Hills Bank for being the host for this incredible collection!
