Army Reserve Sgt. Timothy J. O?Neill II has returned to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., after being deployed to Iraq serving in support of Operation New Dawn.
Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces were assisting in rebuilding Iraq?s economic and governmental infrastructure and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq?s sovereignty and independence as a democracy. Operation New Dawn officially came to an end Dec. 15.
O?Neill is a team leader with the 389th Engineer Company, Middletown. He has served six years in the military.
He is the son of Timothy J. O?Neill and the grandson of Carole E. Morrison, both of Fairfield. He is a 2003 graduate of Fairfield High School.
O?Neill?s wife Megan is the daughter of Karen Menke of New London.
