2011 Iowa State Fair Competition Results

Several area individuals who participated in various contests at the 2011 Iowa State Fair have been awarded with ribbons and titles. Partial competition results follow:

IVY?S QUALITY BREADS

Karen Schafer of Brighton took second place overall with her blueberry coffee cake in Ivy?s Quality Breads competition. Schafer received a first-place ribbon in the coffee cake category and a second-place ribbon in the fruit muffins category.

Entries were judged on appearance, texture, flavor and aroma.

YOUTH DAIRY CATTLE SHOW

A Holstein owned by Brooke Vanderham of Hillsboro was named Reserve Grand Champion in the Youth Dairy Cattle Show judged Aug. 11.

?SMILE IN EVERY AISLE? CAKES CONTEST

In the ?Smile in Every Aisle? Cakes Contest judged prior to the fair, Karen Schafer received a second-place ribbon for her pink champagne layer cake.

Nanette Conger of Fairfield received a first-place ribbon for her angel food.
