28th annual New London Holiday Stroll

On Dec. 8, the New London Holiday Stroll will kick off its 28th year. Starting at 4 p.m. the Dover Museum will be serving their Hot Chicken Sandwiches and Chicken and Biscuits. Making his way to his Santa house located across from Rods Automotive will be Mr. and Mrs. Claus arriving at 5 p.m. The New London Child Care and Preschool will start serving great-tasting chili at the New London Community Center directly behind City Hall at 5 p.m. The New London Community center also will be filled with other fun entertainment from 5-8 p.m. like a caricature artist and two face painters. A few of the other activities going on around town will be a Petting Zoo sponsored by Hometown Vet and cookie decorating at the Fire Station, a Cakewalk at the Danville Bank set up by the Methodist women, East Grove winery will be located in the Chasmacian Crafter building, K & M Auto is hosting the Southeast Iowa Snowmobile Club who will be showing off their snowmobiles. Located in the office of Staley-Nehring Construction is the Walking Tacos being served by the New London Holiday Stroll. There also will be a Caricature Artist and Buckwheat with her Balloon Creations located in The Hair Company along with cinnamon rolls for sale by Lindsey Steele. Returning again this year magician Steve Parker will be in the basement at the library; also make sure to check out the Library's Live Window upstairs. Dr. McPheron's office will be hosting Samantha with her Brown Box Bakery items. Make sure to take some time for a horse-drawn carriage ride located outside of The City Office. Take a look behind the fence located next to Lorber Insurance and come on in, roast a marshmallow and make a s'more sponsored by the New London Specialty Care. Stop by the City Office to sign up and take a chance on winning some awesome prizes. The prizes include a $100 Wal-Mart gift card, and other secret prizes to be at the City Office the day of Holiday Stroll. Located in the Events on Main building from 5-8 p.m. will be the Friends of Geode open house. Sweet Mimi the Clown with her balloon animals will be located at the new Carter Chiropractic office. New this year will be Robert Storm, ice carver from Moline, Illinois. He has been Sculpting for over 20 years in demonstrations, competitions and various events. He will be located in the parking lot of Rods Automotive Tire and Repair, so take a few minutes to stop and watch him work and put your name in the drawing for one of the two ice sculptures to be drawn at the end of the night. Also new this year the open house for the New London Lodge No. 28 and Danville Lodge No. 48 will be located upstairs next to the office of Staley-Nehring Construction. They will have refreshments and cookies waiting for visitors and will be selling gun raffle tickets that will be drawn at the end of the Stroll night. During the Stroll take a moment to have your picture taken with a few of the Disney Princesses and other characters walking around Main Street. Thunder Productions located across from the city park will have refreshments and photo opportunities. The crowning of the Ice Prince and Ice Princess will be crowned here also at 7 p.m. We could not do this without the help from the community and local area sponsors; a big 'thank you” to The City of New London, New London City Utilities, Elliot Chapel, Thunder Productions, New London Journal, New London Specialty Care, Pepsi of Burlington, Hometown Veterinary Care, Sal @ Print Group located in Mount Pleasant, New London Lions Club and to the many other folks who have donated or helped in some way with the Stroll.
