4-H awards and family night Nov. 4

The Washington County 4-H Program will host their annual Awards and Family Night on Sunday, Nov. 4 at the KC Hall in Washington. All of the 4-H family is welcome to gather for a family 4-H potluck meal at 5 p.m. which is optional. Families who wish to participate should bring a dish to pass in a disposable container. Serving utensils, table service and drinks will be provided with burger grilled by the Washington County Cattlemen.

The Awards Program will start at 6 p.m. All Washington County 4-H'ers and family members, club leaders and other 4-H volunteers are invited and encouraged to attend.

This is an evening of recognition of the 2017-2018 4-H year of learning and growing. There is no charge for this evening organized by the County Council and the 4-H & Youth Committee. The evening will include installation of the 2017-2018 County Council and ELITE Project Team members, recognize adult volunteers and businesses, record book awards, CBI Bank 4-H Participation Awards and other special honors.

To help celebrate Washington County Extension's 100th Birthday, they are working to give back to the community by donating 100 meal kits to local food pantries. 4-H Youth Committee will be preparing meal kits to prepare a Chicken Enchilada Bake meal. Each 4-H Club has been invited to participate by donating a certain ingredient that night. All those who participate at Awards Night with a donated food item will be entered into the 4-H Prize drawing at the end of the night. The entire community is welcome to donate to this 100 meals goal with donations made to the Washington County Extension Office. They are collecting items until November 8. The following items are being collects: canned chicken, canned black beans, whole grain tortillas, cooking spray, canned corn, mild salsa, canned refried beans, and Spanish rice packets.
