Over 20 4-H?ers, parents, and volunteers gathered Tuesday, March 8 for Beef Training Program at the Washington County Extension Office. This was the second meeting in a series of 4-H beef workshops planned by the 4-H Youth Committee and beef volunteers.
4-H volunteers and alum showmen Janelle Johnson, Brian Sieren and Tad Tebockhorst shared tips on what 4-Hers should be doing now to prepare their calves for the show ring. They learned about washing, halter training and equipment necessities.
?With so many activities for youth available, it?s rewarding to see both youth and parents at these meetings making their 4-H projects a priority and making that commitment to want to learn more and get better,? commented Amy Green, 4-H/Youth Coordinator, who was present to facilitate the evening.
Beef project members were invited to exhibit or come and learn more at the April 16 Spring Preview Cattle Show sponsored by Washington 4-H County Council. There will be some mentoring opportunities available for new members that day.
Please contact the Washington County Extension office with any questions regarding the 4-H beef project area or about getting involved with 4-H as a member or volunteer.
