4-H clothing event held
Sixteen 4-H'ers and eight Clover Kids participated in the Washington County Clothing Event on Wednesday, June 24, at the Washington County Extension Office.

Sixteen 4-H'ers and eight Clover Kids participated in the Washington County Clothing Event on Wednesday, June 24, at the Washington County Extension Office.
4-H members have the option of three categories to participate in $15 Challenge, Clothing Selection or Fashion Revue. In the $15 Challenge category 4-H?ers shopped for second-hand items totaling $15 or less. This excludes accessories, undergarments and shoes. The Clothing Selection category is purchased clothing, and Fashion Revue category is a constructed outfit.
Senior 4-H?ers representing Washington County at the Iowa State Fair in the $15 Challenge will be Darren Rickheim-Hiller of Crooked Creek and Emily Hora of the Jackson Jets. Kaitlin Hora of the Jackson Jets is in the Clothing Selection category. The State Fair wardrobe Clothing Event will be held in Ames this year on Thursday, Aug. 13, and Friday, Aug, 14.
The top winners in the Intermediate age division for $15 Challenge was Grace Hiller of the Crooked Creek, receiving the purple ribbon. Hiller will be representing Washington County at the Intermediate Clothing Event on Aug. 7 at the Coralville Public Library.
In the Junior division, for $15 Challenge Category a purple ribbon went to Jenna Messser of the Go-Getters 4-H Club . A lavender ribbon went to Jalynn Brown of the Highlanders . In the Clothing Selection category Jenna Messer of of the Go-Getters received a purple and Alex Murphy of the Go-Getters received a lavender. In the Fashion Revue category a purple ribbon went to Carmen Sieren of the Dutch Creek Flyers and a lavender ribbon to Jenna Messer of the Go-Getters 4-H Club.
In the Juniors in Clothing Selection: blue ribbons were awarded to Delaney Gerot, Natalie McCleary and Annie Morrison.
In the Juniors in $15 Challenge: blue ribbons were awarded to Natalie McCleary and Alex Murphy.
In the Juniors in Fasion Revue: a blue ribbon was awarded to Alex Murphy.
In the Senior $15 Challenge Lavender: Kaitlin Hora; blue: Hannah Van Roekel, Kaycee Miller and Baylee Stalde; Red: Avery Blauvelt.
In the Senior Clothing Selection: Lavender: Emily Hora; Blue: Baylee Stalder, Hannah Van Roekel, Katie Palmer and Avery Blauvelt.
A Style Revue for the public will be held at the Washington County Fair on Sunday, July 19, at 7 p.m.(during intermission of Queen Contest) at the Washington Community Center.
Clover Kids also gained experience in the clothing selection division. The clover kids were paired up with an older 4-H?er who served as mentor to them. Those participating were: Kayla Snyder, Taylor Bartholomew, Tess Berdo, Isabella, Lujan, Halle Cuddeback, Adyson Gerot, Lauren Lukavsky, and Halle Hazelett.
The Clover Kids Style Revue for the public on Tuesday, July 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds on the stage located south of the schoolhouse. Clover Kids are invited to participate as second-and third graders to learn more about the clothing project area. It also helps develop communication skills.
