Members of the Washington County 4-H County Council put one of the four H's into practice by giving their hands to larger service this past month. The group purchased a variety of home and personal items for the Domestic Violence Intervention Program to go to families and children in need.
DVIP works to provide support and advocacy services to victims/survivors of domestic violence.
?Last year 359 adults were served through this organization,? explained Marianne Pedde, DVIP coordinator for client advocacy in Washington County. She said it is common for those adults to also have at least one child in need.
As a youth organization, 4-H believes in supporting youth in a variety of ways and DVIP is a local organization doing this type of work. 4-H County Council member, Victoria Tillery helped with the purchases. ?I think it is important for County Council to do these types of projects because as teenagers we often take everyday things for granted. Projects like these help others but also teach us some life lessons.?
