(Editor's note: This is the introductory column on what will become a weekly feature on various aspects of 4-H from the Jefferson County ISU Extension and Outreach Office)
4-H began more than 100 years ago. It has become the nation's largest youth development organization. 4-H serves youth in rural, urban, and suburban communities in every state across the nation. 4-H is more than agriculture, it's about enriching youth in a variety of learning opportunities such as personal development, creative arts, STEM, and family consumer sciences.
Youth in grades 4th–12th can join one of seven 4-H clubs offered here in Jefferson County. A 4-H club is meant to help youth acquire essential life skills through planned 'learn by doing” experiences at their monthly gatherings.
For more information on joining a 4-H club please call Grace Davidson at 641-472-4166.
