My name is Tristen Garretson. I am 13 years old and live in Lockridge. I belong to the Future Leaders 4-H Club.
I started in Clover Kids in Kindergarten and have been in 4-H for three years. I joined 4-H because my parents wanted me to have the experience of 4-H. My mom was in 4-H for nine years and my dad was in 4-H for a few years.
My favorite thing to do is make projects for the county fair. I have made cookies and a pillow. I also made a PVC bike rack that advanced to the Iowa State Fair. I felt proud to attend the state fair and see it displayed with a blue ribbon.
4-H has six project areas: agriculture and natural resources, animals, creative arts, family consumer science, personal development, and STEM. These project areas have endless possibilities that can be turned into a project for the county fair.
