In Old Business, state fair deadlines for animal registrations are due July 1. Club leader Tanya Stalder handed out the new club apparel that was ordered at the last meeting. Members discussed decorating a large round hay bale for the Washington County Fair's new contest this year. Ideas and materials were suggested on four different ideas. One idea was voted on to complete. A family project work night has been set for Monday, July 13, at the Rees family warehouse to complete this project so it will be easy to assembly by 4 p.m. on Project Judging Day, Saturday, July 18 together.
The finished club livestock barn signs (rabbit, cattle and horses) were passed around for everyone to see what livestock members made together. Sophie Bell shared about receiving information that the club received the DuPont Pioneer grant. The Green Acres 4-H Club of Washington County 4-H was one of 15 Iowa 4-H Clubs selected to receive money from DuPont Pioneer and the Iowa 4-H Foundation for their community improvement project! Fred Greiner of FJ Greiner, Inc., presented a check in the amount of $420 to the club to scrape, prime and paint the interior of the Old School House/Open Class Exhibit Building on the Washington County Fairgrounds. Ava Wulf approved the old/unfinished business. Ellie Bell seconded it.
In New Business, club members and their parents could sign up to serve as hosts in the 4-H building during the Washington County Fair. Club members and their families are going to have a family get-together lunch at the fair to celebrate the success of the new club at club leader, Tanya Stalder?s camper. Our leader, Tanya Stalder discussed all of the different forms needed for fair. The fair blue forms, fair books, activity passes, entry tags and forms, 4-H T-shirts and and other fair information was passed out.
Ava Wulf motioned to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Ally Rees. Samantha Mellinger led the 4-H Pledge.
After the meeting was adjourned, Ava Wulf gave a presentation on ?Pony Bead Sun Catchers.? Natalie McCleary gave a presentation on ?Cotton Candy Frappuccinos.?
The next meeting will be held on the fourth Sunday of the month, Sunday, August 23, at the Washington County 4-H Building.
