Saturday afternoon, chickens and more gathered at the Washington County Fairgrounds to listen to guest judge Rex Felts and poultry superintendent Donnie Hiller share some basics on poultry care. The 4-H Poultry Workshop filled the room with youth and parents who wanted to learn more about the poultry project area.
The event was hosted by poultry superintendents Donnie and Ruchel Hiller who went over new changes for the 2014 county fair classes. This year there will be no pair classes, but youth may show individual birds in each class. A demonstration was given on bathing poultry. Felts went over expectations judges have regarding specific breeds and showmanship.
For more information regarding the 4-H poultry project area or how to get involved with 4-H, please contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
