It?s that time of year to get hopping with the 4-H rabbit project area. Four-H and FFA members involved in the rabbit project are invited to attend a free rabbit workshop from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 5, in the basement of Dallmeyer Hall on the Washington County Fairgrounds.
The 4-H rabbit superintendent is excited to offer this workshop, in which several breeds will be showcased, with information about the specifics of each breed. Senior showmen and a guest rabbit judge will share their firsthand experiences in showing, with showmanship tips, and will answer questions as well.
All rabbits at the county fair must be tattooed. If 4-H?ers need help, free tattooing will be available at the workshop. A supplier will be on hand with rabbit supplies for purchase and will also host a workshop on building carriers to hold one to six rabbits. Any 4-H member who wants to build a carrier is asked to contact the Extension office by March 1 so proper materials will be available.
Presenters will be covering various topics about rabbits, including rabbit basics, grooming, diseases, and more. All junior rabbit exhibitors or those with questions about this project are encouraged to attend. Contact the Washington County Extension office with any questions, at 319-653-4811.
