Washington County 4-H seeks to honor the group’s senior members by shining the spotlight on each one as they near the end of their 4-H journey. Today the spotlight shines on Allie Whetstine.
Hometown: Wellman
Parents: Clint and Angela Whetstine
School: Mid Prairie HS
4-H Club: Limecreek Limelights
Projects: Bucket Bottle Calf, Market Beef, Breeding Beef, and Communication
4-H Activities: County Council, Crop Scouting
Special 4-H Memory: One of my 4-H highlights has been growing as a team through crop scouting! Practicing teamwork, problem solving, and preparing for competition has taught me the value of communication and confidence. This past year our hard work paid off with a third place finish at the state competition, an achievement that showed me how dedication can turn skills into success!
Reflection on 4-H: “Through my time in 4-H, I learned how to step out of my comfort zone and take risks. I have been given so many incredible opportunities to grow as a person and gain new skills. I would not be in the place I am today if I had not chosen to take advantage of them.”
Other Activities: Silver Cord, Student Council, FFA, Trapshooting, Archery, National Honor Society
Future Plans: I plan to attend Iowa State University this fall with a major in agronomy.
