Special 4-H memory/highlight:
|My junior year of high school I competed at the National Western Stock Show with the Washington County Livestock Judging Team. The entire experience from preparation through the competition and the fun we had on the trip is something I will always remember.
What I learned in 4-H:
4-H has helped me develop many fundamental skills I now use in both my high school and dual credit college courses. Skills such as public speaking, communication, goal setting, record keeping, among many others I picked up as the years went by in 4-H. I use these skills daily in classes through actions such as giving presentations, doing research, collaboration, and through communication with peers and instructors. 4-H is a very diverse organization. I think everyone should join and try out different projects in order to find your interests. The leadership opportunities gained and fundamental skills learned are immeasurable.
Other Activities: Future Farmers of America (FFA), Business Professionals of America (BPA), National Honor Society (NHS), Basketball, Dance, Archery, Track & Field, American Salers Junior Association (ASJA), Continuum Ag - Intern, Iowa Junior Beef Breeders Association (IJBBA)
Future plans: Following my senior year, I have chosen to attend Iowa State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in animal science specializing in embryology.
