4-H Spring Project Extravaganza open for registration

The goal of the Washington County 4-H Project Extravaganza days are to give 4-H members a variety of options for hands-on learning, experiencing, creating and fun with other 4-H members under leadership of community businesses, experts, and volunteers.
These activities are open to any youth 4th grade and older. Each participant brings in their own level of experiences and is able to apply that to all of these project areas.
Registration is required by March 10. Registration links for each workshop are available in the workshop descriptions below.
Rabbit Project Meeting with Q&A Zoom
This virtual project meeting will be presentations from a panel of our 4-H rabbit department. The superintendent, veteran showman, parents and alumni will share about breeds, equipment, disease prevention, care, showing and breeding! This will be great to tune in and watch if you have an interest in showing rabbits or if you are ready to take your showing to the next level. Intro to Tae Kwon Do
This is a free, healthy living, get moving workshop to experience basic Tae Kwon Do with Mr. Tanner Wenger. Youth will be able to learn about and then practice basic kicks, strikes & blocks, forms, releases from holds and more. No prior experience required. Photo Shoot Magic at Marr Park
A free photography workshop led by local photographer Cassie Woodward. March 20, 9-10:15 a.m. at Marr Park (Rain location will be the Washington County Extension Office. Email will be sent day before with exact location details.) Youth will learn with hands-on exploration and trial about setting up photo shoots, arranging groups, and using outdoor lighting. They will learn how Cassie got her started with her own business and also see her favorite photo shoot spots at Marr Park. Cookie Decorating 101
There is no one way to decorate a cookie, and so we want to teach you another great way to get beautiful cookies. Learn how to outline, flood, and use the wet on wet decorating technique from Jenny Thrapp of Farmhouse Creations Iowa. March 20, 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Washington County Extension Office. A registration fee to cover cost of supplies. Participants will learn, practice and then take home their own 6 decorated 4-H themed cookies as tasty work of art. Barn Quilt Beauty
Did you know Washington County is the Barn Quilt Capitol of Iowa? Yes! Celebrate by making your own 8” x 8” painted barn quilt block from Lori Hammes at Fiddle Dee Dee in Keota. This workshop will be held at the Fiddle Dee Dee in Keota March 20. A registration fee to cover cost of supplies. Participants will select from 6 quilt options, create their own color plan, and paint. An adult should plan to attend with youth if they are younger than 16. 6 quilt design options will be emailed after registering. Learn from this Washington County 4-H alum her entrepreneur story. Youth are encouraged to participate and learn through these hands-on experiences to boost knowledge and spark new project interests while having a good time, creating, and building upon skills. Preregistration is required of all workshops and will fill on a first come, first served basis.
