Join 4-H leaders from across Washington County in an interactive, hands on training that will help volunteers develop strategies to support positive behavior techniques while understanding the importance of preparation and planning to create effective group experiences. This training is part of the statewide leader training and will be held on Feb. 16 in the basement of Dallmeyer Hall on the Washington County Fairgrounds. There will be a 5:15 p.m. session and also a 7:15 p.m. session for 4-H volunteers to select from.
Volunteers will leave with tools and resources to support engaging opportunities for youth.
During this training, 4-H leaders will learn strategies to use when encountering challenging or disruptive behaviors. Leaders will develop a stronger understanding of the importance of planning ahead and being prepared to help in creating a productive and effective group experience. Volunteers will have the opportunity to apply positive youth development framework to create vibrant youth learning environments. In addition, leaders will share resources that can be used with 4-H youth throughout the year.
'I look forward to having our leaders gathered in a safe way for this training and check point for the year,” said Amy Green, Washington County 4-H/Youth Coordinator. 'We are in the ‘people' business so to be able to meet with our people and learn, grow, and build each other up together face-to-face is so important.”
A benefit of participating in the face-to-face volunteer training is the interaction and sharing with other volunteers. Those club volunteers unable to attend the training, contact the Washington Extension office, 319-653-4811, to learn more about participating through other training options.
