4-H?ers gathered at Washington Home and Lumber Center March 25 for a unique workshop getting to build birdhouses at their facility with their tools.
Jim Ross, Washington Home and Lumber Center representative, coordinated this free event with Amy Green, Washington County 4-H/Youth Coordinator. ?We always like to help the kids,? he explained. ?We have real construction experience here, and we know the importance of passing that knowledge and skills on, so we were happy to have these kids out here.?
Eleven 4-H?ers brought an adult assistant with them to build a birdhouse and see the facility. This birdhouse building project could be used for a county fair project or be the start of many other woodworking projects.
For more information on the woodworking 4-H project area or how to get involved in 4-H as a member or volunteer, contact Amy Green at the Washington County Extension Office, 319-653-4811.
