4-Hers’ preparations well underway with start of broiler project
Jun. 14, 2022 3:35 pm
The chicks are here which means fair is near. The Washington County Extension Office housed 144 chicks the morning of June 8 for the standardized production broiler class. 4-H’ers enrolled in this class purchase and raise a dozen chicks and then bring the three most similar and best in weight to compete at the fair in July. These chicks were hatched and delivered to 4-H’ers within a 24-hour time frame.
Washington County 4-H’ers, club leaders, volunteers and Extension staff are busy preparing for the Washington County Fair with project preparations, livestock workouts, and registration deadlines.
For more information on how to get involved in helping prepare for the county fair at the Washington County Fair, please contact Amy Green the 4-H/Youth Coordinator, at 319-653-4811 or amygreen@iastate.edu.
