61 days until SPRING 2014!!!
I have been labeled by many people as the eternal optimist. I have a way of seeing the possibility of something good coming out of whatever is going on. The glass is always half full not half empty. I have been labeled by many people as the eternal optimist. I have a way of seeing the possibility of something good coming out of whatever is going on. The glass is always half full not half empty. Some of these attitudes, I imagine, come from being a follower of Christ. He offered hope to anyone and everyone who would follow Him. I haven?t always been a follower of Christ. I spend the first 30 years of my life following whoever would offer me something that was even a little bit better than what I had. It seemed like I was almost always chasing the next best thing that would come along. I had attended church as a little boy. I went through all the proper classes and instructions that were required of me. You are absolutely right, just enough to get by, just enough to try and please whoever was in charge at the time. I must admit it is very easy to go along with the crowd. It is much easier to go with the flow and not rock the boat. You know what I mean, the organized and traditional way of religion.
But I am very thankful that a very close friend of my wife and I cared enough to invite us to a church which used the Word of God to instruct people into a personal relationship with Christ. It was after attending that church for a while that we made a decision to become followers of Christ. We were convinced that we needed a Savior. We were convinced that the Bible taught that Christ was that Savior. He had given His life on a Cross to die for people like us. It was then that I really became an optimist. I believed that the Bible was true. I believe that the Bible had answers that I was looking for. I came to know that Christ had come to offer hope. Jesus said, ?I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?? The hope of eternal life, an eternal relationship with God and His Son forever and ever, do you have that hope?
You have 61 days from today or nine Sundays starting this Sunday Jan. 19, until the first day of Spring. My challenge to you and your family is this: find a church in the city of Washington to attend for the next nine Sundays. I am optimistic that you will find the spirit of Hope being shared. The hope of eternal life in Christ. This is your invitation from someone who knows about that hope.
