At the time of the publication in 1976, the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary was very active. Each group sponsored a high school junior to Boys and Girls State and Alberta Rhea was a past State President and was then a candidate for National Vice-President of the Central Division. The Legion itself still meets, but is down to very few members. They still take gifts of cookie plates to shut-ins at Christmas. There is no longer an American Legion Auxiliary.
Chapter L TTT is still in existence and they still meet monthly and do fundraisers at area restaurants and send two girls each year to TTT camp.
Wednesday Study Club meets once a month and members give book reports on books they have read and share books with one another. This meeting usually includes lunch out.
In 1976 there was a very active Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. These are no longer and anyone belonging must travel to area towns to take part.
Senior citizens met for a time each for a social time, but no longer exists.
There were many area women's neighborhood clubs and today only one remains, the White Cloud Club, which encompasses ladies from an area on the rural eastern side of town and a few in town.
The 4-H Club for Youth is very active in the area and many take part in showing dogs, livestock and many other areas on the local and state level.
One of the great additions, club wise, has been the Crawfordsville Community Club, which was organized in 2013, when a group of volunteers came together for the betterment of the community. They do many activities, including an Easter Egg Hunt and one of their large contributions is an annual Fun Day activities around the Fourth of July. This starts out with a biscuit and gravy breakfast by the local fire department and features a parade, games, water fights, car truck and tractor show, pony rides, face painting and meals, plus a lot of entertainment. Last year they organized a fundraiser and silent auction for a local businessman that was diagnosed with an incurable illness. This year they brought back softball games that were well attended. The town received a grant from the area Riverboat Foundation and the grounds were completely refurbished. There has been a 9 Hole golf course for people to enjoy for many years.
Although the town is not growing, however, with the upcoming addition of a dog boarding facility, new things do happen. It is still a great place to call home.
