A plea to voters

To the editor:
By the people, for the people. After all these years, we are still not there yet. Our forefathers invaded this land, stole it from the residents, killed many of them and segregated them onto reservations.
Then, many years later, we went after nonwhites again. This time we didn't steal the land, we stole the people themselves and made them our slaves.
All of those actions should be long gone in history, but they are not. Now Latinos have been added to the list, too.
In North Dakota now, the government is taking from the ancestors of the original residents; trying to steal their votes.
In Georgia the government is trying to steal the votes of the descendants of those slaves.
Does it ever stop? All of us are from immigrant families. All of us, unless we are Native American.
Unless we elect real, hardworking, honest people of all races, creeds and sexual preferences, it will not stop. Most of the 'big ones” at the top are wealthy and do not care about or understand 'the people.” They only care about themselves.
I am not ashamed of my country, but I sure am ashamed of my government. We need all-inclusive, fair elections in safe, easily accessible polling places. Many regular people, many of them women, are running for office now.
Please help put caring, honest, responsible people into those offices on Nov. 6.
