Activities planned for Fairfield?s Homecoming week

Fairfield High School Homecoming arrives early this year with events kicking off Monday with the week?s theme ?Survivor: Out Run, Out Pass, Out Score.?
The Trojans will meet the Williamsburg Raiders on the football field Sept. 21.
Monday?s activities at FHS include Camo Day for dress-up, pep assembly and introduction of queen candidates during sixth period class at 1 p.m. in the gym and float construction after school.
Tuesday?s dress-up is Neon Day and students will vote for homecoming queen during fifth hour classes. Float construction continues after school.
FHS may be filled with a suddenly aged population Wednesday ? dress-up is Old People Day. More time for float construction is scheduled after school.
Thursday?s dress-up is Beach Day; students are reminded that all costumes throughout the week need to be school-appropriate.
A pep rally begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Trojan Stadium and will include a cheerleader performance, jersey auction, kiss the pig winners announced, introduction of homecoming queen and escorts and queen crowning, a torch run, a pep talk from Fairfield?s Matt Stutzman, the Paralympics silver medal winner, and a bonfire.
Sept. 21 is FHS Orange and Black Spirit Day. The homecoming parade begins at 2:30 p.m. from FHS and travels west along Broadway Avenue to the Fairfield square. FHS teacher Fred Hucke will emcee the Central Park rally where the year?s dance will be performed, along with the FHS school and fight song. Winners of the candy contest, baby picture and floats will be announced.
The homecoming queen and court will be introduced in Central Park and FHS teacher and football coach Brad Repp will give a pep talk after the parade Friday.
Students will decorate the Commons Friday for the evening?s dance and the varsity football game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
Homecoming dance is from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday in FHS Commons. Student council student will clean up after the dance.
Fairfield Middle School
Fairfield Middle School will have its own homecoming activities, including dress-up days selected by student council representatives, decorating contests and a pep assembly Sept. 21.
Monday is Team Day at FMS; students can wear apparel from a favorite sports team.
Tuesday is Let?s Do Hat Day, followed by Whacky Wednesday.
Thursday will be Neon Day and Friday is Trojan Spirit Day.
?We?ll recognize students? outfits each day at lunch,? said FMS principal Laura Atwood. ?Home rooms will have decorating doors competition and each grade will decorate their own hallways.?
The 2:30 p.m. Friday pep assembly will include an introduction of fall sports, a pie eating contest and a pie-in-the-face of the teacher with the most votes.
Elementary schools
Students at Washington Elementary School and Libertyville Elementary School will have dress-up days throughout homecoming week.
Monday is Clash Day at Washington and Crazy Hair Day (no coloring allowed) at Libertyville.
Both elementary schools celebrate Colors Day Tuesday, with each grade assigned a specific color. At Washington those colors are: white for kindergarten; red for first grade; yellow for second grade; green for third grade; blue for fourth grade; and staff will wear purple. At Libertyville, the colors Tuesday are: green for kindergarten; red for first grade; yellow for second grade; purple for third grace; blue for fourth grade; and staff will wear pink.
Wednesday is Favorite Sports Team day at both schools.
Washington students can wear hats Thursday and Libertyville has Western Day.
Friday is School Spirit Day at both elementary schools.
Pence Elementary School also will have dress-up days next week and a door-decorating contest. Photos of the decorated doors will be posted on Pence?s Facebook page for parents to vote for a favorite door.
Dress-up days at Pence begin with Camo Country Day Monday; Hat Day Tuesday; Pajama Day Wednesday; Mixed-Matched Day Thursday; and School Spirit Day Friday.
Each elementary school also has a brief assembly with the high school cheerleaders and football players visiting the assembly. Times are not yet set for the assemblies.
