African drumming program Thursday

The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department will present African Drumming and Culture with Fonziba from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday on the Roosevelt Recreation Center racquetball courts.
The program is designed for families and children in fourth grade and above. Benefits of African drumming include releasing stress and pent-up energy, stimulating creativity and self-expression, building teamwork and a sense of community and more.
The class is free, and drums will be provided.
Fonziba has been teaching and performing on African hand drums since 1995. She has conducted more than 500 African drumming programs in schools, libraries, museums and churches throughout the Midwest and is a teaching artist with the Iowa, Illinois and Missouri arts councils.
