African Violet Foundation to hold grand opening for new boutique in Fairfield
N/A
Jan. 10, 2020 9:31 am
The African Violet Foundation is about to open its new boutique in Fairfield, and to celebrate the occasion, the boutique is inviting the public to its grand opening party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. This was changed from the original date of Jan. 11 due to expected inclement weather.
The AVF is opening a shop in 54 S. B St., the former site of The Lord's Cupboard. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.
Those who wish to drop off donations of clothing for the boutique should do so during regular business hours or by appointment. The boutique asks the public not to drop off donations after hours.
The African Violet Foundation was founded by Staci Wright in 2006 as a way to honor her grandparents, the late John and Ava Topping. Wright's grandparents were known for helping others in need, and her grandmother often sent African Violets as a token of care and concern. One of the organization's main events has been 'Caring Through Clothing,” held every year on the day after Thanksgiving. The foundation gives away blankets, coats, mittens, hats, scarves, boots, socks and other cold-weather apparel.
