From Thursday, Oct 30 through Saturday, Nov. 1, nonprofit groups in Ainsworth will hold their annual events.
The Ainsworth Community Church Mission Committee will hold a garage sale at the Ainsworth Community North Church beginning on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale is sponsored by the Mission Committee of the church to raise money for its projects. The committee operates a food pantry and a clothes closet year-round in the north building located at the corner of Fourth and Lincoln streets in Ainsworth. Projects include providing food and clothing to those who need temporary assistance, providing food for Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas gifts for families in need. They also support the Heifer Project and St. Andrew?s Potato Drive, provide kits for the Bishop?s Ingathering, and various other projects where help is needed. If you need help or know of someone in Ainsworth who needs help, call Kathi at 319-657-2387 or Judy at 319-657-2157. To donate goods to the garage sale or food to the food pantry, call either of the numbers above as well or bring them to the church during the garage sale.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, Sacha Club will hold its 40th Annual Craft Show. The craft show will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, in the Ainsworth Elementary gym. Lunch will be available and there is no admission charge to shop. Proceeds from the sale go toward funding a scholarship for one or more Highland High School seniors, sponsoring a book fair each fall at the Ainsworth Elementary School, purchasing gifts for needy families at Christmas, organizing an Easter Egg Hunt for Ainsworth children, and supporting various needs in the community. Vendors wishing to rent spaces may contact Brenda at 319-461-1637.
