Ainsworth’s Skubal earns Silver Service Cord
Dec. 13, 2021 2:23 pm
Lois Skubal of Ainsworth earned Iowa Wesleyan University's Silver Service Cord and Service Learning Microbadge during the winter graduation ceremony on Dec. 9.
Service Learning has always been a large part of the Iowa Wesleyan University experience. In the fall of 2021, the Silver Service Cord and the Service Learning Microbadge were implemented to recognize students who serve and volunteer above and beyond their course requirements. To earn these honors at graduation, a student must complete a minimum number of service learning/volunteer hours outside of the classroom. Hours are accumulated over the semesters a student attends Iowa Wesleyan and must not all come from a single activity or organization.
During the Fall 2021 semester, IW students logged 539 hours of service. Skubal was one of two graduating seniors who met the requirement for the Silver Service Cord and the Service Learning Microbadge.
