All God’s Creatures of Mt. Pleasant receives award

Paws on your Heart Pet Rescue Support is proud to announce the first recipients of their new Community Service Project Support Awards. Paws on your Heart provides grants and other help to nonprofit organizations that rescue, care for and adopt dogs and/or cats or help other Iowa pet rescues.

The awards are in support of such Community projects as Educational Events, Providing Pet Supplies or Services or in Support of Other Community needs.

All God’s Creatures (AGC) of Mt. Pleasant has been chosen for one of the Community awards. All God’s Creatures Animal Shelter has programs to care for and adopt strays, assists pet owners with rehoming pets, operates a Trap/Neuter/Release program for community cats, and an outreach program to connect pets with socially isolated individuals including a foster program at the Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility.

AGC’s plan for the new award is to offer the community a Free Pet Microchipping event this fall in collaboration with the local animal control officer. This service will fill a critical need in the community. So far this year AGC has taken in over 200 stray animals and only 3 were microchipped. With microchips a lost pet will be much more easily reunited with its family thus reducing stress for the pet and anxiety for the family. This will be a kickoff event to gauge interest and if well attended may become an ongoing program.
