American Association of University Women awards three scholarships

This spring, the Washington Branch of AAUW awarded scholarships to three Washington County women who have been out of high school at least one year and are enrolled in a college or vocational school. AAUW holds several fundraisers during the year to support these scholarships and this year an anonymous donor made a generous donation, increasing the number of scholarships that were given.

This year AAUW scholarships were awarded to: Andrea Pingol, majoring in Nursing at the University of Iowa; Abby Tornow, majoring in Architecture at Iowa State University and Jessie Buchholz, majoring in Nursing at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.

AAUW is an organization which advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. It was founded in 1881 and is open to all graduates who hold an associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
