Post 29-American Legion met at its regular time with Ron Brock commanding.
Reports were heard from Adjutant Jim Peterson regarding finances and membership and Mike Sypherd about the upcoming poppy program and setting flags at the graves of veterans. Lonny Milligan reported that the first sale will be held May 18 at the fairgrounds with the new food stand located on the south end. Terry Philips reported on the upcoming fly-in breakfast which the post will be providing June 7. Flags will be given to all elementary students to honor Memorial Day. The Post's involvement in Memorial Day will be the flag-raising at the post office at 8 a.m., ceremony at the Crooked Creek bridge at 8:30 a.m., and the program to be presented at Washington High School at 10 a.m. Speakers will be Ron Barnes at the bridge, and Lt. Col. Mendoza at the high school. The public is urged to attend any or all events. The annual steak fry will be held for Legion members and spouses at Marr Park on Saturday, May 16.
Veterans are invited to attend meetings held at the Blair House on the second Tuesday of each month.
