Post 29 American Legion met at its regular date at the United Presbyterian Home to accommodate and honor members living there. Commander Ron Brock conducted the meeting.
One member, Steve Kindred, has passed away since the last meeting. Two new members have joined: Alan Mast and Ron Spicher. A report was heard from Lonny Milligan on the Veterans Day dinner, Nov. 11, as well as progress on a new food sales area in conjunction with the Giardino auctions. Mike Orris reported on the stocking caps and gloves that are given to patients at the VA hospital and that the recipients are very grateful to receive. This post is the only veterans organization in the state with such a program.
Announcement was made that good used clothing of any size and gender is gladly accepted at Community First Bank, which will be taken to the Veterans Outreach in Cedar Rapids for distribution to veterans' families who are in need.
The next meeting will be held Jan. 13, at the Morrison Center at the Halcyon House to accommodate and honor veterans at that facility.
Veterans of any branch of service are invited as guests and prospective members.
