Post 29 American Legion met at the regular time with Wayne Brock commanding. One member, George Connelly, has passed away since the last meeting. Allen Fuhr reported on recent flag-raising ceremonies, funerals, and the 175th parade, which the Legion provided for.
Lonny Milligan reported on recent fundraising projects. Of particular interest was the fly-in breakfast at which the post provided over 700 meals, using several 5-gallon jugs of pancake mix, 120 dozen eggs, and more than 1,000 sausages which were all cooked by Ted Thornton. Thanks to Troop 242, Boy Scouts, Legion Riders, and Sons of the American Legion for their help.
It was noted that a new directory is being installed at the All Veterans Memorial Park. Commander Brock presented ribbons of appreciation to those who participated in various functions during the month of May.
Election of officers for the coming fiscal year was held. The new Commander will be Ron Brock; First Vice Commander, Wayne Kaufman; Adjutant, Jim Peterson; Sergeant of the Guard, Tonnie Crile; and Chaplain, Ken Lindmeier.
Post 29 invites veterans of any branch to attend as guests or prospective members. Meetings are held at the Blair House on the second Tuesday of each month.
