American Legion Post 29
Post 29 American Legion met at its regular date with Ron Brock commanding. One member, Bob Huber, has passed away since the last meeting.
New members include Ron Hazen, Fred Stigers, Mike Sypherd, Bryce Nielsen, Lori Chalupa, John Lukrofka, and Julie Lindner-Reid. Marion Turnipseed was honored for his 65th wedding anniversary. Dana Conklin was honored for his recent marriage to Ann Moore.

Post 29 American Legion met at its regular date with Ron Brock commanding. One member, Bob Huber, has passed away since the last meeting.
New members include Ron Hazen, Fred Stigers, Mike Sypherd, Bryce Nielsen, Lori Chalupa, John Lukrofka, and Julie Lindner-Reid. Marion Turnipseed was honored for his 65th wedding anniversary. Dana Conklin was honored for his recent marriage to Ann Moore.
Alvin Miller, First District Commander, spoke of upcoming events, membership goals, and an emergency assistance plan to Legion members.
Mike Sypherd, Sons of the American Legion commander, reported on the booth at the recent fair at which several new members were gained. The All Veterans picnic will be held Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. at Marr Park. Mike Worley, Honor Guard captain, reported on recent funerals for which the post has provided services, and that the post will provide color guard for the Relay for Life parade.
Lonny Milligan, fundraising chair, spoke of recent food stand operations. Post 29 has made a contribution to the national Legacy Fund which provides college tuition for a child of an active duty personnel who has been killed in action since 9-11. Initial plans for Veterans Day were discussed.
Any veteran of any service is invited to attend meetings as a guest at the Blair House the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
