After a yearlong battle with cancer, Ann Delehanty, 69, passed away surrounded by her family, at her home on June 25.
Ann was born on October 4, 1949 in Manhattan, KS, to Dr. B. R. and Faye Flack. Ann spent her childhood in Winfield riding horses, helping her veterinarian father, and getting into harmless mischief. Ann's family and friends remember her as a talented writer, an impactful teacher, a brilliant wit, a gifted conversationalist, and a loving soul who treated everyone she met with respect.
Ann is survived by her husband of 40 years, James Delehanty; four children, John Delehanty (Leslye), Leigh Bennett (Mike), Amanda Bobb (Barton), Casey Delehanty (Lauren), and honorary son Duane Whitaker (Jenny); nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and sisters Diana Sandy (Russ) of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Eiermann (Stephan) of Georgetown, TX, and Paula Doyle (Bruce) of San Tan Valley, AZ. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Shayne Delehanty.
A private celebration of her life will be held at her home on July 7. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to a memorial garden to be placed in her honor.
