Pioneers tie season-high point total in loss

Pioneers tie season-high point total in loss
WEST BURLINGTON ? Improved shooting kept the MSAE boys? basketball team in Tuesday?s game, but West Burlington had the depth to take control down the stretch and grab a 64-43 win.
The Pioneers shot 19-of-38 from the field and totaled 12 assists while only turning the ball over 15 times.
After trailing 16-10 with one quarter in the books, the Pioneers cut the lead to 21-20 midway through the second quarter. The Falcons then hit a trio of 3s in a row to stretch the lead to 36-25 at halftime. The closest the Pioneers got in the second half was 53-38 early in the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers were led by a handful of seniors on West Burlington?s senior night. Paul DeAngelis had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as well as six assists. Thomas Weiss scored nine, Toby James had eight points, and Dillon Evertsen scored five points along with five boards.
The Pioneers (1-19, 1-17 SEISC south) host Wapello in the SEISC boys? shootout Friday.
Pekin falls in Lone Tree
LONE TREE ? The Pekin boys? basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 54-48 loss to division rival Lone Tree.
Pekin senior Trey Sathoff scored 20 points and grabbed 10 boards, while Tyson Lamb scored eight points, Tater Clubb had five points and 11 rebounds, and Nate Buch scored five points with two assists. Josh Sterling added four points.
The Panthers (16-4, 14-4 SEISC north) now look to Friday?s SEISC shootout matchup vs. Van Buren.

Warriors roll past Comets
KEOSAUQUA ? Van Buren jumped out to a 20-point lead after one quarter Tuesday on its way to posting a 74-40 win over Cardinal.
Elliott Remick and Colin Weaver scored 26 and 23 points, respectively, to lead the Warriors. Zach Boyd added 11.
Cardinal was led by Jonathan Pedersen?s 12 points. Drew Ostrander scored eight and Neil Urtado had six points.
Both teams now turn their gaze to Friday?s SEISC shootout games. Van Buren (14-6, 13-5 SEISC south) is set to host Pekin while Cardinal (6-14, 5-13) will host Highland.
