GIRL SCOUTS
MOUNT PLEASANT ? Area Girl Scouts in second through 12th grade are invited to an upcoming program about climate change from storm chaser Eddy Weiss and his Chasing 4 Life weather education team.
The program, ?It?s All About Change: Climate Change and the World Around Us,? will be from 6-7:30 p.m. April 28 at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant.
Girls will get to meet a real-life storm chaser and find out about his job. They will learn whether chasing storms is getting more difficult and about climate change, environmental issues, the politics around global warming and the history of the country?s weather.
The April session is part of a series of programs brought to the region by Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois in an effort to prepare girls for emergencies, disasters, severe weather and climate change.
The deadline to register is April 27. Cost is $7 per girl and $5 per adult and includes a Chasing 4 Life patch for girls. Register by visiting girlscoutstoday.com or calling (319) 752-3639 or (800) 798-0833.
