Word has been received here of the death of Neil McDowell of Invercargill, New Zealand. Neil was a foreign exchange student at WACO in the early ?70s and made his home with Fred and Betty Stone in Crawfordsville. Neil passed away in December, having had cancer. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and four grown children.

Word has been received here of the death of Neil McDowell of Invercargill, New Zealand. Neil was a foreign exchange student at WACO in the early ?70s and made his home with Fred and Betty Stone in Crawfordsville. Neil passed away in December, having had cancer. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and four grown children.
Neil, Kay and all four children visited in Crawfordsville in January 2004, staying with Craig and the Kathy Stone Johnson. They enjoyed seeing all of their friends and visiting all of the landmarks, including touring the old high school in Olds.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Fourteen members were present.
President Luetta Greene called the meeting to order. Lion Joel Greene led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance and Gene Miller offered prayer.
In the absence of Secretary Nancy Love, Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the Jan. 10 meeting. They were approved as read. Treasurer Randy Finke gave the financial report.
Luetta Greene reported receiving a letter from the DOT about the Adopt-a- Highway Sign. The application for this project has expired and the club needs to reapply to continue the application. Members voted to continue with the project and to ask the Leo Club for assistance in this.
All bills have been paid for the meat the club purchased for the Christmas drawing. Members who haven?t paid dues will be contacted by Finke. Randy will also send the second payment dues to Lions International, as well as state and national dues. The street Christmas lights have been taken down with the assistance of Donald Brookhart?s truck and Lions Mike Massey, Jeff Johnston and Gene Miller. A thank-you note will be sent to Donald.
The upcoming pancake supper was discussed. Tables will be borrowed from the Legion for this event.
Steve Williams announced that the Leo Club will be helping at the pancake supper.
Lion Scott Davis asked the club for a donation for the after-prom party. The club voted to contibute $100 to this.
