Pat Remington, of Brighton, with friend, Nita, of Rubio, went to Oskaloosa on Thursday, Sept. 12. They met Pat's daughter, Brandi Poli, of Waukee, at Taso's Pizza and Streak house.
Kathy Babberl and friend Wayne, of Chariton, met her sister, Pat Remington, of Brighton, with friend, Nita, of Rubio. They met in Ottumwa on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Sonic.
Approximately 100 friends and relatives attended the open house honoring Glen Lowe's 90th birthday. It was held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Brighton Community Building. Special guests included his children and grandchildren.
Providing the evening meal of Sunday, Sept. 15, at the home of Winifred Fritz in Brighton were her children, Joel and Mary Boatright with Bridget Hollingsworth and Greg and Deb Fritz, all of Fairfield.
Rosemary Pacha, of Brighton, with her brother, Mike and Connie Mineart, of Swisher, traveled to Pittsburg, Kansas, on Friday, Sept. 13. They attended the wedding of their nephew, John Seglie, of Pittsburg, Kansas.

Mrs. Aline Hesseltine welcomed a new great-grandson on Sept. 7, 2019. His name is Loic David Robnett and his parents are Emily and Aaron Robnett of Iowa City. He had a 2-year old sister, Madeline. Loic weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces. Grandparents are Rush and Dianna Brentlinger and Keith and Michelle Robnett, all of Iowa City.
The Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met in the United Church of Crawfordsville Fellowship Hall at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18, for their annual salad luncheon. Hostesses Linda Wiltfang and Pauline Richardson provided the hot casseroles, rolls and beverages and the 2018-19 reading team losers provided salads. Following lunch, President Clarissa Malmberg led the group in the Flag Salute and Club Collect. Secretary/Treasurer Debbie Lowe read the June 19 minutes, which were approved as read, and gave the treasurer's report. Dues were collected from the nine attending member. The 2019-2020 program books 'Spending the Day with Study Club” were passed out and perused. Several book briefs were given and books for sharing were displayed on a table. The next meeting will be Oct. 16 at the Hills Bank in Washington at 2 p.m. The theme is 'Spending a Day Learning about Choices Support Group.” The speaker will be Jill Boileu. Program leader Wilma McAllister presented 'Spending a Day Learning Reading Results.” Eleven members had reported the number of books and titles/authors they read in 2018-19 to Wilma. She gave some interesting statistics regarding the number of books read this year and over the past three years. Names were drawn for new reading teams. The meeting concluded with the sharing of memories of club member Helen Lease, who passed away in July.
The United Church of Crawfordsville will hold their annual Harvest Supper and Auction Saturday, Oct. 26. Cream chicken and biscuits, along with beefburgers, potato salad and dessert will be served. Serving is from 4:30-6:45 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7 p.m. The meal is a freewill offering. Grain, baked items, some woodworking items, handcrafted items and many more miscellaneous items will be auctioned. Come join in a great evening of fellowship.
