AREA COMMUNITY NEWS: Free flower show set Saturday in Keosauqua

KEOSAUQUA -- The Keosauqua Town & Country Garden Club will host its 49th Annual Standard Flower Show Saturday at the Roberts Memorial Center on the Van Buren County Fairgrounds in Keosauqua.
The public is invited to stroll among the entries and prize-winning displays from 1:30- 3 p.m. Admission is free.
Flower show co-chairwomen are Joyce Burdette and Connie Morris. They have prepared the show book, organized the committees and planned the activities.
The show theme will be 'Down on the Farm,” with each design division class named for farm scenes. Over 100 different classes of flowers, arrangements, potted plants, shrubs and vegetables will be displayed. Both adult and junior divisions are offered.
The Town & Country Garden Club is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa Inc. and of the National Garden Clubs Inc. Anyone, member or not, who is interested in entering vegetables or flowers can bring entries from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Friday or from 7-9 a.m. Saturday. All entries must be in place by 9:30 a.m. Entry is free.

Members will hold a 'Ways & Means” sale of baked goods, flowers, vegetables and other donated items during the 1:30-3 p.m. public exhibit Saturday.
