AREA COMMUNITY NEWS: Outdoor painting competition planned

WASHINGTON, Iowa -- The second annual Paint Washington En Plein Aire event, an outdoors painting competition, runs June 7-9.

The competition is open to all interested artists.

Participants will create completed paintings of locations within the city of Washington, Iowa. There are three parts to the competition: a nocturne painting the evening of June 7, which is a new addition to the event; an all-day painting session June 8; and a June 9 afternoon 'quick paint” allowing artists only two hours to create a masterpiece.

Judging begins at 3 p.m. June 9, followed by awards and sale of the paintings.

Art Domestique Gallery is hosting the event, which is sponsored by numerous local businesses.
