AREA COMMUNITY NEWS: RARE performances beginning Saturday

BONAPARTE -- The Regional Association of Restoration and Education 2019 theater season starts Saturday.

'Mystery of Buzzard Bend,” an audience participation mystery dinner theater, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Whiteley Opera House in Bonaparte.

The menu includes salad, spaghetti, garlic bread and dessert.

A matinee is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday.

'Good Greef Speakeasy,” a dessert theater, will be July 27. A password will be required to gain access to the lower level of Greef General Store in Bentonsport.

R.A.R.E. assists in fund raising for restorations to National Historic Registered buildings in southeast Iowa. Whiteley Opera House is its current project. The roof is being repaired with funds raised in 2018. The 2019 funds will be used for stairs, gutters and flooring.
