Come out to the Stockport Sod Bustin? Day Saturday.
All festivities begin at 8:30 a.m., with music, a book sale by the Stockport Library, an Amish bake sale, a John-Deere carousel, games for the kids by the Van Buren Jaycees, an old-time plowing exhibition with both horses and early antique tractors.

Come out to the Stockport Sod Bustin? Day Saturday.
All festivities begin at 8:30 a.m., with music, a book sale by the Stockport Library, an Amish bake sale, a John-Deere carousel, games for the kids by the Van Buren Jaycees, an old-time plowing exhibition with both horses and early antique tractors.
Wayne Keller and others will provide the music.
The Stockport Fire Department and the P.Y.R.O. Youth Group will have the lunch for a freewill donation. Lela Heisel also will be available all day with food and drink.
Be sure to bring a lawn chair.

Remember to answer the questionnaire that was sent out by the Post Office and get it sent back in for the study survey being conducted by the U.S. Postal Service. Write to the congressmen about closing the Stockport Post Office and what effect it would have on you and your business.

The Stockport United Methodist Church Clothing Closet has a very nice selection of clean, sorted clothing, including shoes, stockings, sweaters, blouses, shirts, jeans and pants for men and women, coats, purses, bedding and children?s clothing.
The closet is now open the first and third Thursdays of the month, from 4-7 p.m.,, to accommodate the people who work until 5 or 6 p.m. If anyone needs clothing in an emergency, call 319-796-4619 or 319-498-4240.
Everyone is welcome to come and take what you can use at no charge.

Beverly Runyon is asking for any pictures of you or your loved ones who have, currently are, or going to serve in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, Navy or Reserves. This includes members of the military who have died in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, Iraq or any other conflict the United States was involved in, or if they served during peace time.
She would like a picture of the servicemember in uniform, if possible. If picture are brought to the Stockport Library, she can make a copy and return the original photo the same day. To mail the photo, send it to Stockport City Hall, PO Box 15, Stockport 52651. Photos will be returned if an address is included.
Oct. 15 will be the last day Runyon will ask for pictures for this year?s special project.
