Five artists participated in a Fairfield Art Association Linoleum Block Printing Class with instructor and well known local artist John Schirmer in May. The class was so successful and fun they are sharing their prints in a special exhibit of their work in the Main Gallery at the FA&CC. Their show will open for the Aug. 1, Art Walk, from 6:00 — 8:30 p.m. Class participants showing their work include: Anna Shchadina, Rolf Erickson, Wendy Read, Demerie Faitler and Suzan Kessel.
Several of the artists will include a few prints previously made, including other methods of printmaking, such as mono-prints, lithograph and other previous made block prints. The FAA plans to add more classes in a variety of printmaking methods in addition to the block carving.
John Schirmer will be exhibiting his professional woodcuts on the Main wall of the gallery. Schirmer has been a printmaker for 40 years, receiving many awards around the country.
"We are fortunate to have John in Fairfield and available to instruct classes at the FAA."
FAA is happy to announce another class in block print making with Schirmer this October on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. — noon. The class is for all artistic levels, beginners to experienced. A sign up sheet and more details will be at the exhibit.
