Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk will present ?Spring Garden Celebration? from 6-9 p.m. Friday on and near the city square.
A feature of the new theme for the monthly art walk series will be ?Books in Bloom.?
Participants have partnered with downtown businesses and the Fairfield Public Library to help turn the heart of Fairfield into a sure sign of spring.
Participants each have selected a book which peeks his or her imagination ? one from a personal collection or the library ? and designed a still life to be displayed at participating businesses and organizations in downtown Fairfield.
According to the guidelines, a particpant puts together a display, small or large, which must include a book and flowers, either real or creative replacements, such as chocolate roses or flowers made of jewels, and produce an artistic still life display around his or her chosen theme.
For example, the art walk organization?s display window on the north side of the Fairfield square will focus on a book entitled ?Pearls.? The beautifully photographed book will be part of the still life including pearl jewelry, antique linens and white flowers.
Individuals, groups or organizations interested in designing one of these artistic still life displays, can contact the art walk office at fairfieldartwalk@gmail.com or 233-8883 to be matched with a location.
Participants are required to register and let organizers know the display?s theme.
?We are excited about this new addition to the 2014 art walks,? said art walk executive director Cindy Woodbury Woodbury. ?There are so many talented people in Fairfield, and everyone seems ready for spring, so we thought this would be a fun way to celebrate the season.?
In addition to ?Books in Bloom,? businesses and local art galleries will be open with artwork on display.
A full schedule of the 2014 events can be found at www.fairfieldartwalk.org.
