N/A
Aug. 22, 2019 9:32 am
Ashley Hobbs, Henry County 4-H alum, was honored as a 4-H Alum of the Day by the Iowa 4-H Foundation at noon, Thursday, Aug. 15, in the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair.
Alum of the Day is a recognition event that seeks to thank 4-H alumni for their service in spreading the word of 4-H and living out the core pillars of the 4-H program. Ten individuals are selected to be honored, one each day at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. The individuals being honored exemplify the 4-H spirit, contribute to their local community and continue to support the 4-H Program.
Hobbs is a Henry County 4-H alum from Mt. Pleasant where she lives with her husband Matt and children Mara and Kalvin.
In 4-H, Hobbs was involved in the communications, clothing, food, photography, sheep, and poultry programs. The skills she has learned through 4-H have helped her to give back to the program. Hobbs was co-chair of the Henry County queen contest, starting a service project component of the competition. She is currently a volunteer for the prince and princess contest for Clover Kids.
Hobbs has jumped right back into her community where she still works to implement new ideas and encourage others to join in the fun. Through her actions, she helped her husband's company recognize the importance of being family friendly and they sponsored the carnival at the Henry County Fair this year.
Hobbs currently works as an occupational therapist assistant for school children with the Area Education Agencies.
'We are always thrilled to recognize Iowa 4-H alums who continue to live out what they've learned in 4-H, and still support the 4-H program,” said Emily Saveraid, executive director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation. 'We congratulate Ashley on this award and thank her for her support of Iowa 4-H.”
