You may have attended one of our noontime concerts, or listened to a guest author speak at our Writer?s Workshop, or noticed the progress on the mural in our back alley and wondered where we have found all of these musicians, authors, and artists. We are incredibly lucky to have a bounty of talented artists who call Washington home. They give back to the community in many ways, including offering free concerts at the library and providing their expertise as guest speakers for our many programs. Please be sure to support our homegrown artists in any way you can ? by purchasing their works, seeing them in concert, and thanking them for sharing their talents.
Through our connection with the L.E.T.?s Center, we have been able to offer book clubs, author visits, and art classes to the community. This group has been highlighting not just the talent surrounding us, but also the talent hidden in each of us. We look forward to seeing the new programs that come out of this energetic group.
We have also been lucky to have connected with a special outreach program through the University of Iowa called Arts Share. In their own words: ?Arts Share continues The University of Iowa's long tradition of sharing creative resources from the Division of Performing Arts (music, dance, theatre), the School of Art and Art History, and the Writers' Workshop. Our goal is to strengthen the arts in underserved areas, reaching out to provide access to life-enriching arts experiences throughout Iowa.? Through Arts Share we have seen many talented groups perform, including the opera that was recently hosted at the library. These artists come to us completely free of charge, thanks to the generous support of sponsors and grants given to Arts Share.
Most importantly, we wouldn?t be able to offer any of these art programs without your support. Thank you for attending our programs and supporting us with your donations and your tax dollars!
