A special kind of plant is growing here at the Washington Public Library and we need your help to make it bloom! From March 15 ? April 30 we have a ?Kindness Tree? growing in the Juvenile area of the library. What is a Kindness Tree, you may ask? A Kindness Tree is a tree that grows leaves, or ?Kindness Hearts,? every time someone does a random act of kindness! We need your help to fill the tree up with Kindness Hearts by completing a random act of kindness. Once you complete that, you will write down what act of kindness you did on a Kindness Heart, and proudly put it on the tree. Being kind to the community can change someone?s life. By simply showing others your care for the community, you can spark an inspiration of kindness in someone?s heart and make a change in the way they view and appreciate life. Being kind doesn?t necessarily mean you have to pay someone?s rent or buy someone a car (though that would be amazing and definitely unforgettable!); it can be something as small as helping someone carry their groceries to their car or holding the door open for someone. It can even be as easy as taking time out of your day to get coffee with a friend and letting them know that you are there for them. Being kind is never a bad idea, even when you think it goes unnoticed. The reward you get out of being kind and knowing that you are making a difference in the world or in someone?s life is the best kind of satisfaction out there. You never know how much one little random act of kindness can affect the community. Let?s strive to show everyone a little bit of kindness.
?No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.? ? Aesop
